The New Sixty-five
Posted November 10, 2010
on:I want to introduce you to the New Sixty-Five … a place where I will be writing about and launching a one-year initiative to celebrate the baby boomers turning 65. If you, or someone you know is in this category, you will want to let them know. This isn’t another boomer blog, it’s about celebrating for the next year and examining the following: turning 65, challenging society to view 65 as an age of vitality and grace and an opportunity to “give back” and leave the world a better place.
Keep turned here. I’ll roll out the plans, the names, the events, the news… all the updates. Our first event will be a “gathering” to celebrate the boomers birthday party, early in January. Date and time to be determined.
Soon, I’ll be asking any of you in that category to participate with me in several ways — to fill out a survey, to be interviewed. We want the world to know what a difference we make and that we are moving forward in a meaningful, productive way. It’s OUR time now … to focus on ourselves and what’s important to us and it’s my recommendation that we do that in a non-selfish way … a way that fosters the well-being of the world for our children and our grandchildren.
So, stay tuned and welcome.

Congratulations on this important effort. Though I am 4 years away in age, I am no less excited about your intention. It is important that age (particularly that of women) be applauded, recognized, rewarded, embraced and saluted. Women today of 65 are much different than that of our mothers at the same age. We are so many things to so many people and for us to be invisible is a travesty of unspeakable bounds. Happy Birthday in advance and again, I wish you the best.
